Commercial Insurance for Consulting Firms

Your contract says you’re insured. The real question is whether the policy behind it holds up.

For a management or government consulting firm, your biggest exposure is rarely a fire. It is a claim that your advice cost a client money, a contract with insurance requirements you have to meet exactly, and the client data on your laptops. As an independent agency representing 100+ carriers, we size the coverage to your real contracts and exposures, coordinate it with your team’s benefits, and make sure it pays when it counts.

What it covers, plainly

A consulting firm’s coverage is really several policies working together.

Professional Liability (E&O)

The core coverage. It defends and pays claims that your advice or work caused a client financial harm, even when you did nothing wrong. Government and prime contracts often require a specific E&O limit and endorsement in writing.

Cyber Liability

For the client and, often, government data you hold. It covers breach response, notification, ransomware, and the liability that follows. It is increasingly a hard contract requirement, not a nice-to-have, and a sublimit buried in a BOP is rarely enough.

General Liability & Property

Third-party injury and property damage, plus your office, equipment, and the income you lose if you cannot operate. Most office leases and client contracts require it, and it is the base your umbrella sits on.

Workers Compensation

Required in Maryland, Virginia, and DC once you have employees. It covers work-related injury and lost wages regardless of fault, and it is one of the first coverages a client contract will ask you to certify.

Employment Practices (EPLI)

Claims from employees: discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination. The exposure rises with every hire, defense costs alone are serious, and standard policies rarely include enough on their own.

Umbrella & Group Benefits

Extra liability limits stacked above your primary policies for the claim or contract that runs past them, plus the medical, dental, and life benefits that keep the talent your contracts depend on. All coordinated under one advisor.

How we work

What a commercial advisor should actually do.

Your advisor

A named human, not a 1-800 number.

You get one advisor who learns your operation, knows your team, and remembers what happened at the last renewal. Same person at year five as at year one.

Proactive reviews

We call before renewal, not after a problem.

Annual proactive reviews. Quarterly check-ins for fast-growth clients. If you opened a new location, hired your fiftieth employee, or signed a major contract, we want to know before your policy does.

Carrier breadth

Independent access to diverse markets.

We're not tied to one carrier's appetite. Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Hartford, Cincinnati, Chubb, and dozens of other standard and specialty markets, we shop where your risk profile actually fits.

One roof

Commercial, benefits, and personal - coordinated.

Your business coverage, your team's benefits, and your personal insurance can all live under one advisory relationship. No more retelling your story to three different people.

Growing Fast?

Your business grows. Your coverage should keep up.

A broker who just renews your policy is fine, right up until it isn't. When you add a location, a truck, or fifteen employees and nobody updates your coverage. When a renewal comes back 22% higher with no explanation. When a claim lands and you need someone who already knows your operation. That's when a renew-and-forget broker costs you.

You need a named advisor who learns how your business actually runs, anticipates the risks before they find you, and makes sure your coverage evolves as fast as you do. We're independently owned, so your account team doesn't get shuffled after the next private-equity acquisition. The same advisor stays with you as you grow.
