Cyber Liability
The breach is the easy part. The aftermath isn't.
Ransomware locks your files on a Monday morning. An employee wires $80,000 to someone impersonating your CFO. A laptop with client data goes missing and now you have notification obligations. Cyber liability covers the response, the recovery, and the liability, and your general liability policy almost certainly excludes all of it. The claim we see most often is not a sophisticated hack. It is someone getting tricked into sending money.

How we work
What a commercial advisor should actually do.
Your advisor
A named human, not a 1-800 number.
You get one advisor who learns your operation, knows your team, and remembers what happened at the last renewal. Same person at year five as at year one.
Proactive reviews
We call before renewal, not after a problem.
Annual proactive reviews. Quarterly check-ins for fast-growth clients. If you opened a new location, hired your fiftieth employee, or signed a major contract, we want to know before your policy does.
Carrier breadth
Independent access to diverse markets.
We're not tied to one carrier's appetite. Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Hartford, Cincinnati, Chubb, and dozens of other standard and specialty markets, we shop where your risk profile actually fits.
One roof
Commercial, benefits, and personal - coordinated.
Your business coverage, your team's benefits, and your personal insurance can all live under one advisory relationship. No more retelling your story to three different people.
What it covers
What cyber liability actually pays for.
Cyber coverage splits into two halves. First-party covers your own costs: forensic investigation to find out what happened, legally required breach notification and credit monitoring, data restoration, the income you lose while systems are down, and ransomware response including extortion payments where permitted. Third-party covers your liability to others: claims from clients whose data was exposed, regulatory proceedings and fines where insurable, and payment card penalties if you take cards.
The endorsement worth asking about by name is social engineering and funds transfer fraud. That is the coverage that responds when an employee is deceived into sending a payment to a criminal, and it is by far the most common cyber loss among businesses our clients' size. It is frequently offered as a sublimit well below your main cyber limit, or left off entirely. Check the number, not just the box.
What it does not do: your general liability policy will not fill in here, because standard GL forms exclude electronic data. And carriers now underwrite on controls. Multifactor authentication, tested offline backups, and endpoint detection are increasingly conditions of coverage rather than discounts, and misrepresenting them on an application can cost you the claim.

What our clients say
"
"Your team is always responsive and helps us figure out our insurance needs. You really keep up with our pace of business, and we appreciate that every single time."

Think you are covered correctly now?
Let us take a look at your current coverage.
Send us your cyber policy and we will tell you three things: what your actual sublimit is for social engineering and funds transfer fraud, whether your business interruption waiting period is short enough to matter, and whether the security controls you attested to on the application are the controls you actually have in place. That last one is where claims get denied.
