How we work

What a commercial advisor should actually do.

Your advisor

A named human, not a 1-800 number.

You get one advisor who learns your operation, knows your team, and remembers what happened at the last renewal. Same person at year five as at year one.

Proactive reviews

We call before renewal, not after a problem.

Annual proactive reviews. Quarterly check-ins for fast-growth clients. If you opened a new location, hired your fiftieth employee, or signed a major contract, we want to know before your policy does.

Carrier breadth

Independent access to diverse markets.

We're not tied to one carrier's appetite. Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Hartford, Cincinnati, Chubb, and dozens of other standard and specialty markets, we shop where your risk profile actually fits.

One roof

Commercial, benefits, and personal - coordinated.

Your business coverage, your team's benefits, and your personal insurance can all live under one advisory relationship. No more retelling your story to three different people.

Growing Fast?

Your business grows. Your coverage should keep up.

A broker who just renews your policy is fine, right up until it isn't. When you add a location, a truck, or fifteen employees and nobody updates your coverage. When a renewal comes back 22% higher with no explanation. When a claim lands and you need someone who already knows your operation. That's when a renew-and-forget broker costs you.

You need a named advisor who learns how your business actually runs, anticipates the risks before they find you, and makes sure your coverage evolves as fast as you do. We're independently owned, so your account team doesn't get shuffled after the next private-equity acquisition. The same advisor stays with you as you grow.

Reston, Virginia

Reston sells expertise. That is what has to be insured.

Reston sits at the center of the Dulles Technology Corridor, and its business base is engineering, software, and federal technology services. Bechtel has been headquartered here since 2012 and expanded to a 289,000 square foot lease at Reston Overlook in 2024, spanning eleven floors of a 320,000 square foot building; the firm employs about 18,000 people across 50 countries. Leidos is headquartered in Reston as well. Reston Town Center itself carries roughly 4 million square feet of office space alongside 50 retailers, 30 restaurants, and more than 2,000 residences.

Almost nothing that leaves a Reston office is a physical product. It is a design, a system, an assessment, a piece of software, or a recommendation. That makes professional liability rather than general liability the policy carrying your real exposure, and professional liability behaves in ways that catch firms out. It is written on a claims-made basis, so the policy in force when a claim is reported responds, not the one in force when you did the work. Your retroactive date is what preserves coverage for everything you have already delivered, and losing it when you change carriers quietly uninsures years of completed projects.

Defense costs are the other one. In most professional liability forms they erode your limit, so a $1 million policy that spends $300,000 defending a claim has $700,000 left to settle with. Some forms offer defense outside the limit at additional cost. Most firms we review do not know which they have until we tell them.

We check your retroactive date, tell you whether defense erodes your limit, confirm your technology E&O and cyber policies actually overlap rather than leaving a seam between them, and read the client contract to see what limit it demands before you commit to it.

Your retroactive date, protected

Changing carriers without it quietly uninsures every project you have already delivered.

Whether defense erodes your limit

In most forms it does, which changes what you actually have left to settle with.

Tech E&O and cyber without a seam

Two policies that have to overlap. We check where one ends and the other begins.

The limit your client contract demands

Federal and enterprise agreements specify numbers. We read them before you sign.
